CHRISTOFLE - Model known as "DELAFOSSE" - Lot 44
CHRISTOFLE - Model known as "DELAFOSSE" Set of 11 Louis XVI-style silver plated dessert knives with stainless steel blades. Violin-shaped handles decorated with a scalloped foliage pattern, rosettes, and leafy garlands. Hallmarks of the silversmith’s house: (“CC” and scales), used between 1844 and 1935. Full-word signatures of the CHRISTOFLE house. Blades signed: "CHRISTOFLE". L: 19.2 cm. Model created in 1907, inspired by the Louis XVI era and Antiquity. These decorative elements are derived from Jean-Charles Delafosse (1734–1789), a French ornamentalist and architect who theorized the Louis XVI style and heralded the dawn of Classicism. This model was notably chosen by the Parisian hotel Le Meurice to enhance its tables.
