GUINGAMP 1781-83 - Lot 233
GUINGAMP 1781-83 Rare and large silver uni-flat pot spoon with spatula engraved with a coat of arms stamped with a comtal crown. The coat of arms is probably for the GUENEAU DE MUSSY (Monsieur) family. We know of the marriage of Monsieur François-Pierre-Marie GUENEAU de MUSSY (1745-1794) and Madame Odette OUDIN in 1772, but we have no record of Madame's coat of arms. Charge and discharge marks for Brittany 1781-89. Common house hallmark for 1781-83 ("X" crowned). Master silversmith's hallmark: Jean-Louis-Charles LE SCAN DUPLESSIX, received by the Rennes mint in 1777 to work in Guingamp. Length: 39.7 cm. Weight: 264.6 grams. We thank Mr. Francis Sanchez for identifying the coat of arms.
